Cara Black makes a return to competitive tennis after a long lay-off since January when she takes part at the prestigious Wimbledon Championships, where she will take part in the first round of the women’s doubles at the famous All England Lawn Tennis Club tomorrow.

According to the Wimbledon Championship schedule, Black (32), will team up with Israeli female player Shahar Peer and the two are seeded 14th.

The duo will start their campaign with a first-round clash against the unseeded British pair of Sarah Borwell and Melanie South on Wednesday.

Black last tasted victory at Wimbledon in the women’s doubles in 2007 before her split with her then regular partner Liezel Huber.

This will be Black’s first return to competitive tennis since the Australian Open in January, as she has scaled down on the number of tournaments since undergoing surgery on her right knee in November last year.

The last time Black competed in a grand slam was at the Australian Open where she was knocked out in the quarter-finals together with her Australian partner Anastasia Rodionova.

After the 2011 Australian Open, Black took a break from competitive tennis and later revealed playing there had aggravated her knee injury, forcing her to take a break from playing tennis.
