The Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Zifa Junior League coaches have been invited to share work experiences with the US Soccer Federation Athlete Council chairman Jon McCullough who will be in the city on June 22.

McCullough will be in the city, courtesy of the Bulawayo Baptist Church’s Grace To Heal, a peace-building ministry which has requested the junior league for four coaches to meet with the senior US athlete at Unlimited Connect Centre in the city centre.

Bantu Rovers juniors and Bulawayo Youth Games football team coach Melusi “Mabaleka” Sibanda has been chosen to meet McCullough.

Also earmarked for the programme is Sibanda’s assistant in the Youth Games team Sakheleni Nxumalo of Pumula East Academy and Ajax Spurs’ Siphambaniso Dube.

Mighty Warriors captain Nomsa “Boyz” Moyo had also been earmarked for the programme but she will be unavailable as she will be on national assignment. She is also player/coach at National Women’s Super League side New Orleans.

The invitation from Grace to Heal to Zifa reads: “Grace To Heal, a peace-building ministry of the Bulawayo Baptist Church is hosting McCullough and would like to invite you to a welcome cocktail to welcome him and hear him share some of his work experiences. We request for four coaches from your organisation who work at grassroots levels. Please don’t forget the women coaches.”

McCullough is a renowned sporting personality, who is involved in programmes using sport for character building and empowering youths with conflict resolution skills on and off the field.

Bulawayo Zifa Junior League chairman, Mkhululi Mthunzi, welcomed the invitation.

“We welcome such initiatives especially when our coaches rub shoulders with mentors with such curriculum vitaes,” Mthunzi said.
