Esigodini is set to rumble into life on Sunday when sungura music maestro, the energetic Alick Macheso, takes to the stage with his Orchestra Mberikwazo at Jabula Inn.

Mduduzi Mbandula, Jabula Inn manager, confirmed the sungura star had been signed for a performance on Sunday evening.

“He is touring the country at the moment,” he said. “The Esigodini show will be his last in Matabeleland before he and his band make their way back to Harare.”

Mbandula said Macheso last featured in Esigodini in December last year when he shared the stage with yet another great entertainer, Tongai Moyo.

This time around, Macheso will perform together with Tryson Chimbetu, who normally takes his fans down memory lane with renditions of dendera music hits.

Macheso’s manager, William Tsandukwa, promised fans a memorable show when the musician descends on Esigodini on Sunday.

“He will definitely be at Jabula Inn. His fans can expect an energetic performance as usual. Macheso loves being on stage. His fans give him that extra energy.

Tsandukwa said “Cheso Power” would play songs from his latest album Zvinoda Kutendwa as well as his old hits.

“He has not performed songs from the album at Esigodini. His fans should expect to sample some of the songs on Sunday. He will also play old popular songs,” he said.
