BBA: Vimbai shows great potential

Zimbabwe’s representative in the Big Brother Amplified (BBA) house Vimbai Mutinhiri proved that she has the potential to win this year’s reality show after she received the most country votes to avoid eviction.

This comes at a time when the organisers of the show have announced that there will be two winners this year who will walk away with $200 000 each.

Liz Dziva, Multichoice Zimbabwe public relations manager, says the stakes are much higher this season than they ever have been.

“The housemates are unaware of this development and still think there will only be one winner,” she said.

An unprecedented seven housemates were up for eviction last week. Confidence, Hanni, Millicent, Vina, Weza, Zeus and Vimbai had been nominated.

Vimbai managed to shrug off competition as she received the most country votes from Tanzania, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

She managed to beat some housemates like Weza (Angola) who was whisked to the Tails house after receiving one vote from her country.

Hanni (Ethiopia), who most people thought would be evicted, was safe from eviction as she had three country votes from Ethiopia, Malawi and South Africa.

Millicent had two country votes from Kenya and Uganda while Nigeria and the rest of Africa decided to save Vina .

Weza, Zeus (Botswana) and Confidence all tied with one country popularity vote each out of 15.

Confidence had the lowest average percentage votes across Africa and she was therefore sent packing from the BBA house after spending six weeks in the game.

When it was revealed that it was the end of the road for her, she initially could not hide her frustration but later seemed to accept reality.

She refused to hug some of her now ex-housemates but changed her mind when she got to the door and turned to hug a few that were around her.

She then said: “Finally, I’m free from all you people! I’m going to have some champagne.”

Confidence becomes the seventh housemate to leave BBA after Jossy, Michael, Nkuli, Lotus, Bhoke and Ernest.

As usual, Vimbai did not know she was up for eviction as head of house Lomwe (Malawi) had switched his countrymen Felicia and put Vimbai in her place.

When host IK told Vimbai she was safe from eviction, she rushed to the bedroom in excitement and struggling to catch her breath.

The other Zimbabwean housemate, Wendall, is still safe having managed to escape nomination so far.
