South African house music disc jockey, DJ Kent proved why he is rated among the best international artists when he drove hundreds of his fans into frenzy in the early and chilly hours of Sunday morning at Sports 747 in Bulawayo.

Most people had predicted that his counterpart DJ Cndo would present the best performance at the show but it was not to be.

The talk in the city prior to the show had been that Cndo would be the star attraction but the humble and reserved DJ Kent, real name Khensani Mabaso, had a surprise package.

Proof of how popular he is among house music lovers in the City of Kings, DJ Kent got on to the stage amidst wild cheers from the audience.

He immediately got down to serious business and the excitement reached a feverish pitch. His fans took to the dance floor, sheltering under the massive tent that had been put up to cover them from the cold.

The tent was so packed and some fans had to carry others on shoulders so that all could catch a glimpse of their idol.

He played hard-thumping house music that has made him a household name on South African radio station, 5 FM.

DJ Kent’s selection on radio is very well structured. He kicks off with vocal tracks and then slowly builds his selection into deep house dance music and the dancing becomes even more serious.

In an interview with NewsDay after landing at Joshua Mqabuko Airport on Saturday afternoon, the DJ had promised to play some songs from his latest productions.

“I have new material which I will showcase tonight,” said the soft spoken and humble selector.

Although he performed very late, well after midnight, his fans did not regret.

DJ Cndo played first and proved why she is nicknamed “Finest Lady of House Music” although DJ Kent had better skills up his sleeve.

DJ Kent later proved to be the most popular thanks to his good selection of music but Cndo did well with her flawless mixing skills.

The Zimbabwean duo of Ndumiso “Black Cee” Tshuma and Ngqabutho “Slimzar Wa-Afrika” Ncube also delivered good performances, displaying some excellent mixing skills.
