American record producer, songwriter and rapper Timbaland, who is expected in Zimbabwe on Friday for the Zarfest, is set to scout for local talent in Zimbabwe.

One of the organisers of the event, DJ T-Bass, confirmed that Timbaland was going to assist some local musicians.

“Timbaland is a producer who enjoys assisting and recording for musicians. He has informed us that he wants to work with some musicians from Zimbabwe. This will not be his first time to hear the Zimbabwean beat as he once used Oliver Mtukudzi’s Ndima Ndapedza beat for his track Party People, some years back,” said T-Bass.

T-Bass added that preparations for the event were at an advanced stage with one of the artistes, Ciara, expected to come to Zimbabwe on Thursday morning aboard South African Airways.

“Ciara is expected to arrive at the Harare International Airport on Thursday at 12:20hrs and we are urging people to go to the airport in their numbers to welcome her to Zimbabwe,” said T-Bass.

Timbaland, Lil Kim, Fat Joe and DJ Scratch are expected in Harare on Friday morning. Kenny Kunene, a South African businessman and the man behind ZAR, will also be coming to Zimbabwe this week for the show.

A pre-party will be held on Friday evening at a local club in Harare while the main show will be held on Saturday at the Borrowdale Racecourse.

Tickets for the Zarfest are already selling like hot cakes and can be purchased at Nando’s Avondale, Chisipite, Marimba and Newlands outlets. Ordinary tickets have been pegged at $50 with the inner circle costing $100.

T-Bass also assured members of the public that they would not be ripped off their money as the artistes had signed contracts to perform for an hour each.

“We are bringing in four artistes plus a DJ and they are each expected to perform for an hour. People can be guaranteed that they will have a fun-packed night. Having many artistes on the same show is good because of variety,” said T-Bass.

Initially, the artistes were meant to perform in Harare on Friday but their show was postponed to Saturday.

“The artistes have asked us to move their Friday show to Saturday as they want to go partying on Friday night, and experience the Zimbabwean night life,” said T-Bass.

While in Zimbabwe, the multi-award winning artistes will also visit various tourist attractions.

The musicians are coming into the country courtesy of one of South Africa’s leading entertainment companies ZAR Empire, ZAR Ent, and NR Ent.

The event is being supported by Channel O, Radisson Blu, Bass & Style, Metro FM and Nandos.

The musicians will leave for South Africa on Sunday for other shows to be held Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
