Brighton Masiyambumbi also beat Clayton Sibanda of Midlands on points in the light welterweight contest.

In other fights O’ Brien Magare of Matabeleland North beat Tatenda Nyarota of Midlands on points in a flyweight contest while Melville Usher of Bulawayo lost to Partson Mutengwa of Midlands on a knockout in first round.

Mutengwa and Usher battled it out in a catchweight fight. Future Maziya of Matabeleland North won the fight against Martin Ngwenya of Bulawayo as the referee stopped the contest due to bleeding.

The fight pitting Samson Masiyambumbi and Meluleki Ngulube was called off as the latter failed to turn up despite attending the weigh-in in the morning. John Chimika also failed to pitch up for his fight against Noel Mpofu.
