Zifa Central Region Division One Football League leaders Hardbody Football Club, failed to strengthen their bid for Premiership football next season after they were felled 3-0 by Forbes and Thompson at Forbes Stadium on Saturday.

Although they still remain in charge of the log with 15 points, the busmen’s four-point lead was reduced to a single point, just above Tripple B who walloped ailing Rutendo Stars 9-0 at Dulibadzimu Stadium on Sunday.

Hardbody’s defeat also worked to the advantage of sixth-placed Chapungu who were inactive, but enjoy two games in hand, which if both won would place the airmen two points on top of the Tavaka Gumbo-coached side.

Third-placed McInn continued with their unbeaten run by holding TM Eagles to a goalless stalemate away at Mbizo Stadium on Saturday. With the title race still wide open, the Gwanda-based outfit are still within shouting distance of Hardbody.

Tongogara jumped two places up the ladder to fifth spot after dismissing FC Glow Petroleum 2-1 at Torwood Stadium on Saturday.

Although regarded as outside campaigners, the soldiers are so far firmly on course for a Premiership slot as they are just three points behind leaders Hardbody.

Blanket Mine posted their first victory of the season after edging Lancashire Steel 1-0 in a surprise attack at Blanket Mine Stadium on Sunday. The victory saw the miners vacating from rock-bottom position to third from last on top of Gweru pirates and Rutendo Stars.

At Chrome Stadium, Chrome Stars drew their fourth match of the season after Silo United held them to a one-all draw.

Rejuvenated ZimAlloys struck three without reply past Rutendo Stars on Thursday to settle on position eight.

After defeating Forbes and Thompson by a similar score line the previous weekend, highly-rated Alloys seem to be back in contention.
