Giants increased their chances of winning the Bulawayo Basketball Association league when they beat Abundant Life Christian Centre (ALCC) 70-31 at Bulawayo Club for the Disabled at the weekend.

Michael Zvoushe got 12 points for Giants while the top scorer for ALCC with 19 points was Honest Nguruve.

Giants lead the log standings with 37 points from 19 games.

Kings suffered a setback when they lost 59-42 to Lords.

Kings are second on the log standings with 33 points from 18 outings while Lords are third with 31 points from 19 games.

Stewart Woods and Khalid Fazilahmed were tied at 12 points for Lords. Garikayi Gumbo scored a massive 29 points but Kings could not get the much needed victory to pile pressure on log leaders Giants.

In another match, Oilers beat ZB Titans 65-43. Lionel Wolfenden had a good game as he grabbed 24 points for Oilers.

Stanley Gumbo played well as he notched 20 points despite being on the losing side.

Oilers are placed fifth on the log standings with 28 points in 18 outings while ZB Titans are seventh with 21 points in 19 games.

Sentinels had good outing as they beat Stars 50-43. Rodney Mayenga inspired Sentinels to a victory as he scored a crucial 21 points. Despite the victory Sentinels are bottom of the log with 20 points from 19 matches played. Stars are fourth with 28 points in 19 games.

In the women’s category, Giants emerged as 26-25 winners in a tight contest against Highlanders. Giants are now second on the log standings with 22 points from 13 games while Highlanders are third with 21 points from 12 games.
