If the truth be told, almost every Christian is looking for a breakthrough in the physical realm of life.

Many young Christians are looking for a miracle, sign and wonder.

In this scenario, Christian success is then premised on the so-called tangible things.

God is then pushed to the corner to manifest Himself in a way that we dictate.

Of course this is vanity because man cannot tell God how He should be God.

If God were to say that what He has already given you is enough for the rest of your life, would you continue to worship Him?

Is God simply a being that has things that humanity needs and has to be courted to release the things? In this presentation I seek to touch your nerves and bring you to true realisation and honest reason why you are seeking God.

In this column, I seek to prick you and nudge you so you make a sincere assessment of the motives of your relationship with God.

God’s desire as shown in the Garden of Eden is to fellowship with humanity.

He needs communion. Regrettably, many do not have time to be in a loving relationship with God. God is only useful in times of need.

How do you suppose a parent will value a child that only behaves well for purposes of pocket money, new clothes or school trip?

In my Christian life so far, I have seen that the difference between victorious Christian life and bitter life is the blessing of the Lord. Proverbs 10:22 King James Version (KJV) says, “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

Miracles, signs and wonders are meant for the unbelievers as God will be confirming His Word. If the unbeliever is drawn to Christ, he should then start looking for a blessing.

A miracle is temporary divine intervention. Believers should be followed by signs not the other way round.

When the blessing of the Lord rests upon you, you do not need a temporary intervention but a permanent prosperous life.

Jacob understood the importance of the blessing of the Lord. He fought all night with the angel of the Lord. He refused to let the angel go before blessing him, “And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me” (Genesis 32:26 KJV).

The blessing of God was upon Joseph and no matter what adverse things happened to him, he remained above the situation. He was sold into slavery by his brothers and taken to Potiphar’s house and the household began to prosper.

In prison, he still prospered. Jabez had a painful and sour life but he realised that if God would bless him, he would have a sweet life without agony.

In 1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV), the Bible says, “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”

There is nothing wrong with praying for a house, car, job, husband etc but that is for starters.

If the hand of the blessing of the Lord is upon you, the good things of life have no option but to follow you.

When you receive Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour and the curse of sin is broken and all generational curses are broken, pray for the blessing.

The reason why things may work out for you for a time then you start all over again, is that the blessing is not operating fully.

Refuse to have a life of ups and downs, call upon God for a blessing.

The reason why people go to false prophets or attend deliverance after deliverance is the lack of the blessing of God in their lives.

l I will be doing you disfavour if I do not follow up on last week’s article in which I began a project of collecting one million copies of the Bible to distribute to the needy.

I report that I am so proud of you. Your response surpassed my expectation.

We have received many donations. Please continue in the same spirit until the return of Christ. Patrick Tapfuma, a director with a city college came to our office and said he would be donating one Bible per every working day until the return of Christ.

Many callers wanted information on how to acquire affordable Bibles for onward transmission to us. I had a meeting with Pastor Josiah Mafusire, ministry director with Bible League International, a non-denominational organisation that provides Scriptures and training.

They run an initiative called “Project Philip” through local churches to make the Bible available for a donation of $2.

With the project that we are currently running in this column, we will offer the training to selected communities and our team of trusted ministers of the Word will conduct the courses.

I will personally teach in some of the areas with preference to the rural and resettlement areas. For those that want to buy the Bibles to support us, price guide is: English $5, Shona $15 and Ndebele $8. God blessed you to be a blessing to others.

l For Bible donation, please contact the project manager, Percy on +263 774 081 600, Number 89, Rotten Row (opposite Harare Magistrates Court). You can deliver your donation or post or we can collect it. Erasmus Makarimayi is pastor at New Gate Chapel Feedback: [email protected]
