Reigning Miss Mashonaland Central Ayeta Sesemani Banda will tonight host Mashonaland Central Talent Search competition at Tendai Hall in Bindura.

Banda will be assisted by her princess Mellisa Chikerema and this is an effort towards two of her reign goals which are to fight child abuse in the province and to empower the youths.

“The show will run under the theme ‘Youth Against Child Abuse’ and in the morning we will do a street clean-up in Bindura’s main street with the help of Mashonaland Central National Arts Council who will be celebrating the Culture Week under the theme ‘Professionalising the Arts’,” said Banda.

She said the talent search was open to all Mashonaland Central youths aged between 13 and 40 years and the various categories include drama, dance and music.

Musical outfits that include Appolos of Africa, Ritzywain, Rufaro Kings Band and Dzanambira Crew are expected to perform at the event.

“The main prize will be sponsored by the Miss Mashonaland Central Organising Committee and popular urban groover, Madiz will perform after the winners have been announced.”

She said the adjudicators would come from the National Arts Council Mashonaland who had co sponsored the event while the main sponsor was the organiser of the Miss Mashonaland pageant, Elizabeth Gandah.

Banda said they were hosting the show in the high density suburb because they believed that there was much untapped talent in the area.

She said the reason for hosting such a show was that there was no platform for these youngsters to show their talents and it was expensive for them to produce their demos.

Banda said it was also a youth-empowerment effort which she had promised the people when she won the Mashonaland Central pageant and because the theme was on child abuse she wanted to send a message to the people through entertainment.
