Joe Pike is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors in the country and his roles in different local productions have earned him respect in film circles.
The actor, who garnered popularity through his role as Jacob Huni in Studio 263, is set to bounce back on the local screen with a film titled Shadows, which he wrote and directed expected to premier on June 1.
Pike said the film would be screened on television three times a week and so far they have shot 20 episodes.
“This is going to be a unique series. It is not the type of production that local audiences are used to. This time we will be focusing on local business circles where a ruthless business man, Garikai, looks for and takes advantage of struggling upcoming businesses. A lot of deception, kidnapping and other malicious acts develop the plot,” he said.
Pike said although the soap would use legal language, there would be numerous scenes on social issues hinging on everyday life in high-density suburbs and general cultural perceptions across the society.
Actors taking part in the film include former Studio 263 duo, Denzel Burutsa and Tapiwa Mavindidze.
However, Pike said Burutsa and Mavindidze’s roles would be different from what they have been known to do on the screen.
“I have several new talented faces in the production. I must say there will be many surprises,” said Pike.

He said the main character in the film would have a number of lessons and tips for businesspeople and those intending to start businesses.
Pike left Studio 263 after a fallout with producers due to poor remuneration, his passion for acting saw him featuring in other local productions like the movies Fading Pictures and Lobola.
“Besides acting, which I am very passionate about, I am also a graphic designer, poet, food designer and dancer and I am working on starting a dance school. I could have already opened the dance institution but I encountered some operational challenges.”
He admitted that making a soap opera was a challenging task but said he would try to motivate everyone around him to work hard.
