Air Zimbabwe pilots Wednesday called off their month-long strike which saw the airline losing millions of dollars.

Transport minister Nicholas Goche confirmed the development but could not give details.

“The pilots are resuming duties Wednesday and there will be full operations starting with the Harare–London flight which will depart at 7am,” said Goche. On whether they had reached an agreement with the pilots, Goche said: “That is confidential as it involves people’s salaries. So I can’t shed more details on that.”

However, some pilots told NewsDay they were now back at work.

“We were given slightly above half on the deferred salaries and the rest will come in phases as the company performs. Management also said they were going to look into the other issues we raised,” said one of the pilots.

The pilots embarked on a strike on March 22 demanding payment for their outstanding salaries and allowances amounting to $4 million.
