The presence of the International Rugby Board Junior World Rugby Trophy-bound Zimbabwe Under-20 rugby team is set to add glamour to this year’s Cottco Schools’ Rugby Festival.

The Young Sables are scheduled to play a friendly match against a National Rugby League select team next Friday in addition to conducting coaching clinics at the festival.

The premier schools rugby festival will take place from Monday to Friday with a record 156 local school teams, which is an increase from the 144 teams which took part last year.

In addition to the six pioneering schoolgirl teams who will play Sevens rugby, there will also be touring sides from Zambia, Botswana, Kenya and Nigeria.

The Young Sables, who are the reigning African champions, are expected to go into camp on Sunday as they intensify their preparations for next month’s Junior World Rugby Trophy in Georgia which is now just 21 days away.

Under-20 coach Godwin “Jaws” Murambiwa told NewsDay Sport that besides their match on Friday, his charges would take some time to mix and mingle with other aspiring schoolboy players at the tournament.
