Former FC Platinum head coach Benjamin Moyo was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony at his rural home at Empandeni Mission in Bulilima on Monday.

Moyo (39) died after drowning in a pool at the team’s camp in Shurugwi last Friday.

He is survived by his three children Bheki, Thandi and Patience who live in the United Kingdom.

The funeral ceremony started off at 9am Bulilima where various speakers described the passing on of Moyo as a great loss to the family and to the football fraternity.

His brother Benedict Moyo described his late brother as a good soccer coach. “I passed on the baton stick of coaching to Benjie. He never tolerated being treated badly because he knew what he wanted. As a family it is a big loss to us,” said Moyo.

Former Warriors and Highlanders striker Zenzo Moyo said: “When Benjie was at Highlanders, the executive said that I was rough and lacked discipline. Moyo gave me good guidance and that year I became the top goal scorer because he believed in me and I listened to him.”
