An 18-year-old man from Lusulu area in Binga has appeared in court facing charges of impregnating a minor.

Hardlife Musanike denied the charge when he appeared before Binga magistrate Stephen Ndlovu. The magistrate remanded him out of custody on free bail to May 23 for trial.

The State alleges that sometime in November 2010, Musanike had an affair with a 14-year-old girl from the same village.

On dates unknown to the prosecutor, Musanike allegedly went to the girl’s home and on several occasions slept with her while her parents were away.

The matter came to light sometime in February this year when the girl fell pregnant and had a miscarriage.

She implicated Musanike, prompting the parents to report the matter to the police.

Musanike denied the charge saying he was in Bulawayo at the time he was alleged to have committed the offence. David Never Shiku represented the State.
