One of Harare’s leading nightspots, Stars Studio which had been closed since December 31 was re-opened over the weekend and is now a better place to be.

The studio which is located at the Rainbow Towers hotel and owned by Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) is now being run by the management of the hotel.

Previously the club was run by private licence holders.

Eltah Nengomasha, RTG corporate communications and brand manager, said the studio would no longer be run by private individuals.

“Rainbow has taken over and our management is now responsible for the operations of the club. People should expect a major change with better products and services from Stars Studio as we have deployed people with competent expertise to run the place,” said Nengomasha.

She assured the public that Stars would never be closed again and that the decision to take over the place was a management and business decision.

The decision made by the hotel seems to be paying off as the club is one of few where revellers do not spend hours in queues waiting to order drinks.

At Stars, there will be various bartenders moving around waiting on people’s orders.

Before the studio was closed last year it was already a sinking ship. One regular reveller told NewsDay that he liked the place but was dreading to go to the joint.

“I had stopped going to Stars because the place had become sub standard.

“There were problems with service and ventilation but all have now been solved,” said Mark Moyo who was at the club on Saturday.

He added that he was grateful to the RTG for solving the problem by taking over the place since the take-over had brought major changes to the club.

DJs Dee Nosh and L-Roy of the D&L fame were the first to sample the decks on the grand re-opening on Saturday.

The two did not disappoint as their mixes kept revellers on the dance floor.
