Free-scoring Chapungu Football Club might receive what could be a major boost, amid revelations speedy striker Philip Marufu is likely to feature in Saturday’s Zifa Central Region date with Shurugwi United at Ascot Stadium.

The on-song airmen have pumped in 13 goals in three matches so far, and shipped in only one without the services of Marufu, whose former DRC Linafoot club FC Saint Eloi Lupopo, have been reluctant to process his reverse international transfer certificate.

The clearance process for the former Dynamos striker who has been training at Thornhill Airbase since pre-season is expected to be completed today.

After Lupopo who are still keen on the striker failed to honour their contractual obligations, a frustrated Marufu walked out of the Lubumbashi side to join his old club Chapungu.

The airmen’s secretary, Mkhululi Dube, said they are eagerly waiting for the speed merchant to feature in their side.

“We are expecting Philip (Marufu) to get his reverse international certificate on Friday (today) and he would be eligible to play for us on Saturday. His return is a major boost for us,” said Dube.

Marufu’s comeback is likely to add more bite to Innocent Chogugudza’s attack which is scoring goals for fun, with another star striker Brighton Mugoni being potent upfront.
