South African veteran disco songstress Patricia Majalisa is set to perform at Queens Sports Club on Friday.
Majalisa, who is not a newcomer to the City of Kings, told NewsDay in a telephone interview from her Johannesburg base that she would give her best.
“I actually have a new album entitled Ephathini which I will showcase for my fans in Bulawayo. I will play tracks like Tshomie Yami, Happy Woman and many others,” she said.
She promised that she would also dig deeper into her bag of old tunes and play songs that have always been popular with local fans.
Majalisa said she feels at home when in Zimbabwe.
“There is no country that I like as much as Zimbabwe. I feel at home when I am performing there.”
The energetic Majalisa said she would bring with her another musician of note, Phumi Maduna, a former backing vocalist for the late reggae icon, Lucky Dube.
She also has a new album which is a tribute to her mentor, Dube.
Also accompanying the entourage will be Thabile Mazolwane of the I’sponono Sami fame.
Majalisa released her first album in 1998 entitled Success which sold well. Her second album, Lebogang Modimo released in 2001 also did well while the third release, What do you do hit gold.
The SA musicians are also expected to perform in Hwange after the Bulawayo show.
