After conquering South Africa a fortnight ago, sungura maestro Alick Macheso made a sensational return and put up an exciting show on Saturday at his home ground venue, Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.

The talented bassist put up a good performance in front of his ever-growing and loyal fans proving why he is a self-proclaimed entertainer’s choice artist in sungura circles.

The sungura star thrilled the fans with songs from his albums Zvinoda Kutendwa and Ndezvashe including songs such as Tafadzwa.

The show attracted a bumper crowd and the Orchestra Mberikwazvo band staged an exciting performance with prolific dancer Franco Slomo winning the hearts of the fans.

“We are happy that our fans turned up and this was a great show.

“We had successful shows in South Africa and we will now shift our focus to our local fans and give them the best,” said Orchestra Mberikwazvo spokesperson, William Tsandukwa.

One of the sungura artists, who is arguably getting better by the day and steadily becoming a force to reckon with in the music arena, Progress Chipfumo, partnered the sungura ace in what was an explosive and well attended gig.

The dreadlocked singer drew fans into singing along to some of his popular songs such as Dai Ndaiziva, Anondida Ndakadaro and Chakafukidza. Sungura music lovers who spoke to this paper on the sidelines of the gig expressed their appreciation of what had been an explosive gig.

The performance at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex follows Macheso’s reported “out of this world performance” in South Africa.

“We thank our fans for their continued support and appreciation of our work and we will keep on giving out the best,” said Tsandukwa.
