Somandla Ndebele will launch his new album on Wednesday night at City Sports Bar in the capital at an event that will also feature versatile rising musician Jah Prayzah.

The album, which is titled Ndipei Nguva, will be available on the market countrywide tomorrow morning.

It is Ndebele’s 20th release and the musician has promised that this will be a production with a difference.

Sample songs given to NewsDay on Tuesday were indeed confirmation that the musician has gone a step further.

Those that are familiar with the musician’s early hits will definitely like the new album, which could position Ndebele as an established musician. Ndebele said the album was crafted to take people back to the original Denda Brothers (his group) beat.

“I feel it is a great album and we are hoping that people will like it. It is an album that digs deeper into our bag of creativity and, as a 20th album, it is a special production that we have done with all our effort and passion,” said Ndebele.

A spokesperson of Diamond Studios which produced the album said the launch would be more than just an introduction of a new album.

“It will also be a time for people to see what we have done as a studio. We will have Jah Prayzah as a supporting act. The young musician is also in our stable and this would be an event to take our artists to the people in a special way,” said the spokesperson.

He promised music fans that the album would be in all record bars across the country on Thursday morning.

Distributors will be dispatched to all parts of the country today. Ndebele said he would mix new songs with old hits at the launch.

“We will give people the new stuff but we will also play a number of our old hits to remind them of where we came from. It will be a celebratory event and fans will obviously be expecting to make merry with the tunes that they already know.”

Ndebele has made a mark locally and is among the well-known sungura artists. Some of the songs that have become popular with fans include Ngatifare, Marwadzo, Kuvaka Musha and Mwoyo Wekurera that he did with Tongai Moyo.

The Ndebele-Jah Prayzah relationship goes further than the launch since they have also done a song together, which will be on Jah Prayzah’s album that will be released this month.
