After coming out of a dramatic and abusive relationship with Celia Dapeta that made headlines in media circles a few years ago, popular musician, Dino Mudondo says he has found new love and is planning to wed.

NewsDay recently caught up with the musician, who admitted that he was so much in love with his lost and found childhood sweetheart, Fungai Dimbi.

“I dated Fungai long back but the relationship broke down when she left to study in Australia and the distance was unbearable. We could not make it work but now we are back together. I love her so much,” said Mudondo.

He said his girlfriend would be back from Australia in June when she completes her dentistry.

Mudondo said a few months ago Dimbi had been in the country and they visited their respective families for introductions pledging that this time there was no turning back and he was sure this relationship would work out.

“We are actually planning on getting married and if all goes well we will be wedding in December,” he said.

Mudondo said he had no beef with his ex-girlfriend, Dapeta, despite the storm they went through together. He said he respected her for being one of his biggest fans ever and was happy that she was now married to someone else.

Mudondo said besides a new love he had completely turned into a reggae artiste instead of his usual mixture of various musical genres.

“I am working on my latest album titled I am Reggae which will introduce the new me to my fans as a full-time reggae artist,” he said.

He said his new music could be close to the late Lucky Dube’s style. Dino said Dube and Bob Marley were his greatest inspirations.

He said in the past he had just been testing the waters and now he was grown up and ready to reveal his true being which was ultimately reggae.

“I want to carry on Lucky Dube’s legacy and if all goes well I will soon be recording with Teal Records which Dube recorded with and also hire his Slave band for recording,” said Mudondo.

He said he aimed to create a major fan base in the country before expanding his territories.

Mudondo said I am Raggae would be officially released on August 7 which is also his birthday, as a sign of the beginning of the new Dino who is a reggae artist.

He said songs to look out for included the title track I am Raggae, Shupikai and Ndatenda which feature local reggae artist Mic Inity and was a dedication to everyone who has stood by him until this day.

“I am also working on another album titled Zuva Guru which would be the last of my old kind of music, so I will release it before the other one in April,” he said.

He said he would have an Aids awareness song which he would soon complete with Winky D.
