Stand-up comedian Carl Joshua Ncube presented an exciting act that almost choked audiences with laughter at the Zimbabwe German Society recently.

The show titled, The World Tour Preview, provided a snippet of the content of the comedy act which Ncube is scheduled to take to the world in May.

The ribcracker’s unique and insightful routine was backed by sleek, high-tech presentations and hilarious commentary making it the first of its kind in Zimbabwean stand-up comedy.

“Technology has made me find relevance of expressing my identity and culture by using these tools. I am glad that some of the local corporates such as Rainbow Tourism Group have begun to see the awesome branding potential available through participating in my tour,” said Ncube.

Ncube told hordes of people that attended the show that the purpose of the performance was to showcase his upcoming tour which will take him to 35 cities dotted around the world.

He said that he was embarking on the world tour in order to export Zimbabwean culture to the rest of the world as well as engage in cultural exchange and reposition the image of the country in the world consciousness.

Despite that the narrative of his performance touched on serious issues, Ncube injected a plethora of one-line jokes, anecdotes, punchlines, satire and off-the-cuff statements that left the audience giggling.

If anything, Ncube proved that he has what it takes to make it to the highest echelons of comedy, not only in Zimbabwe but worldwide. Ncube, who burst into the comedy scene at the end of last year, said that he would make four television productions during the world tour.

The television shows titled, Carl Can Cook will be a cookery programme on which Ncube will prepare different Zimbabwean dishes with his own twists during his tour.

In addition, Ncube will also produce Make Me Laugh a talent search of people who can tell jokes in Zimbabwe and around the world.

The other programme, Made In Zim will be a hard-hitting documentary that will focus on the cultural extinction Zimbabwe faces in the advent of digital media.

Ncube said that the entire world tour will also be filmed and packaged into a television programme.

Some of the cities that Ncube will take his comedy performance to include Lusaka, Blantyre, Nairobi, Kampala, Lagos, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, Amsterdam, New York, Texas, Los Angeles, Brisbane, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Grahamstown, Durban and Johannesburg.
