Dynamos defender Guthrie Zhokinyi has been ruled out of Sunday’s mouthwatering Harare derby against perennial rivals Caps United set for Rufaro Stadium.
The hard-tackling defender has not been training with the team since his return from Sudan where he was on national duty with the Warriors last week.
The other Dembare players who were part of the Warriors squad, Denver Mukamba and Archieford Gutu have since joined their team mates at training while Washington Arubi started training with Northern Region Division One side Highfield United.
Dynamos head coach Lloyd Mutasa confirmed that the player will not take part in the most-anticipated match because he had not been training with the team.
“He is the only player who has not joined the rest of the squad in pre-season training and in as much as I might have wanted him to play he has not trained with his team mates, he is definitely out,” said Mutasa.
Mutasa said he had a good replacement in Gift Bello.
“I will have to focus with the people I have at training. I would have wanted to assess all the players in a big match but Guthrie told me he has some personal issues to deal with,” added Mutasa.
There has been growing speculation that Zhokinyi was heading out but the defender was quick to quell the rumours.
“I’m still a Dynamos player but it’s just that I have been sorting out some personal problems. I think I will start training with the team on Monday,” said the man they call Tollgate.
Mutasa said the return of the highly rated Under 23 internationals Gutu and Mukamba will boost morale in the team.
“They joined us on Monday and they have been doing very well. They are good players and every coach would want to work with them. They have proved that they can play at the highest level of the game and I think they will do well for Dynamos in the league and in the Champions League.”
