Six volleyball players from Bulawayo left the city for Harare on Thursday where they will join the 20- member team that has been called up for trials for the 10th All-Africa Games qualifiers trials that start on Friday.
The players will be hoping to make it into the final team that will travel to South Africa next month for the AAG qualifiers.
Bulawayo Volleyball Association (BVA) president Mxolisi Ndlovu told NewsDay Sport: “We have six players from Bulawayo who left for Harare for the All-Africa Games qualifiers.
They are Khanyile Dlamini, Sandile Sibanda, Proceed Mkonto, Nomagugu Dube, Nomsa Moyo and Thembela Chansa.”
The bulk of the players from Bulawayo have been picked from ZRP Raiders Club.
Ndlovu said the selection process was based on players’ past performances.
Some of the players who made it into the team are Media Mafuta, Rejoice Mususo, Juliet and Eunice Tsvuura and Claris Nyamurutsa. Shamiso Madudzo, Chenai Wankie, Thobekile Mswazi, Duduzile Dlodlo and Nyengeterai Guyo have also been called up.Rumbidzai Nechironga, Kudzai Mujato, Prenade Makumborenga, Sharon Ndlovu and Sicelo Mguni complete the list of players who have been called up.
The indoor volleyball camp will run until January 24.
The men’s camp for the trials runs from February 7 – 14.
