All is set for the friendly karate international between Zimbabwe and Zambia in the Chipolopolo Cup Tournament on Saturday 22 at Alexandra Sports Club.
This is a highly spectacular event between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
The tournament has also attracted some top karatekas from Botswana who could not resist the temptation to be part of this grand event.
“We have accommodated their top karatekas to come and compete in this prestigious tournament, seeing that Botswana is a regional karate powerhouse. Zimbabwe has a lot to learn from the highly ranked Botswana,” the Zimbabwe Karate Union said in a press release on Thursday.
Zimbabwe is favoured to scoop more medals against Zambia through its seasoned karatekas Justin Mashiri, David Dube and Winston Nyanhete. In the female category, a gold medal from traditional kata champion Gladys Samantha Mutiti is expected.
The Saturday tournament will benefit Zimbabwe in its preparation for the 2011 Zone V1 and All-Africa Games to be held in Mozambique in May and September respectively.
The Zambians and the Tswanas are expected in Harare this afternoon.
