Gamu Nhengu’s move to the United States will be televised, it has been revealed.
The 18-year-old Zimbabwean, recently signed by rapper 50 Cent, is in talks for a reality TV show which will trace her journey “from unfairly being rejected from the X Factor live finals and moving from Scotland to New York,” where she will hook up with some of the world’s best music producers, reports said.
The website talklippy.com, which first reported Gamu’s 50 Cent hook-up, now reports that “50’s people are in talks with TV networks to air the show”.
“The favourites are Channel 5 in the UK and Oprah Winfrey’s new US network OWN,” the report said.
Gamu, now rebranded Miss Gamuchirai after signing with 50 Cent’s G-Note record label, has been assigned a fashion designer and stylist to help with her image.
She is also reportedly in talks about collaborating on a single with UK soft rock singer AK.
She confirmed it on her Twitter. A decision by judge Cheryl Cole to drop her for the televised live finals of X Factor last October drew UK-wide condemnation.
At least 260 000 people signed up on Facebook to denounce Cole and demand Gamu’s reinstatement — in vain. —New Zim
