What’s on this weekend . . .


The Book Café
Macintosh, Mbira by “The Peacemaker”, (former Bocapa Xposure winner) will take to the stage Friday followed by Nyamasvisva NeMawungira Enharira, mbira magic from Harare’s legendary mbira ensemble.

Saturday afternoon there will be a “Sistaz Open Mic 4th Birthday Bash” at the same venue. In the evening, Mokoomba from Victoria Falls will light things up with their unique afro-fusion from the people of The Great River.

The Mannenberg
Friday, Victor Kunonga will thrill fans at The Mannenberg with his timeless originals which are always in demand, and new tunes from the third album Hatinete. Saturday, the Transit Crew with “Bigger Tings Ah Gwaan for 2011”, will take over from Kunonga.

Fusion Café Bar
Resident DJs Bass & Style will be on the decks on Friday. After hosting a successful “Black and White Party” last weekend, former Stars Nightclub DJs Dee Nosh and L-Roy of D&L fame will take over on Saturday to host “The Lick party.” The first 50 ladies will be given free lollipops and a glass of champagne. The bar is situated at the Borrowdale Racecourse.

This Saturday NR Ent in collaboration with Bass & Style will host the ultimate Saturday nite clubbing experience at the Axiom club which is at Sam Levy’s Village. The event has been dubbed “The Unthinkable, we lead and they follow” and it will feature R&B, hip-hop and dancehall beats.

Liquid Lounge
DJs Dee Nosh, L-Roy and Chuckie will terrorise the mature at heart’s venue as they will present “The Jump Off” on Friday. They will mix old “skul” beats with “nu skul” beats in the early hours and then switch to R&B, kwaito, house, soul and hip-hop music later on. The Liquid Lounge is located at Rhodesville Shopping Centre.

East 24
This weekend, DJs Kudzi Marudza and Witness Matema of Huggiez Entertainment will provide quality “old skool” music at this outdoor venue for the mature and mature at heart.

City Sports Bar
The City Sports Bar will tonight go on a sungura tip with sungura musician, First Farai. On Saturday, Jazz outfit, Too Open will take over and Banyana Bafana from Bulawayo will end City Sports Bar weekend line-up with their dancing skills.

Red Fox
Red Fox, the home of dancehall and Rastafarians which is situated in Greendale, will on Friday host Mic Inity with DJs Ash Styles and Nivek on the decks.
