DJ diversifies into music production

Bulawayo DJ Mark Vusani has diversified into music production after more than a decade behind the turntables.

The DJ — whose real name is Vusumuzi Ndlovu — has decided to produce music for upcoming artistes.

He said: “I have been working together with Nyce Beats Records who are based in Queens Park East.

We have been producing music for a number of artistes. This year, I intend to commit a lot of time to musical production.”

Vusani said some of the artistes he has assisted to produce include Samazaza and MaRice, both kwaito musicians.

“I have been working hand-in-glove with 2Nyce in producing the music,” he said. “We are planning to produce a lot of music this year. We have also combined with other producers and are now working under Phat House Entertainment.”

Imbued with innovative ideas, Vusani said he also plans to launch his own music label this year, known as Mento-tainment.

“The club scene in Bulawayo is quite good,” said Vusani, who is also a well-known club DJ.

“The only letdown is that there are only a few venues where DJs could perform. This has led to some disc jockeys resorting to back-stabbing just to get a deal.”

Vusani has been touring of late and has been performing in towns such as Gwanda, Beitbridge, Hwange and Victoria Falls where he got an overwhelming response from fans.

Vusani, who specialises in producing mixes of diverse kinds of music, started playing music in 1998 when he was still studying “A” Level.

Back then, together with his friends, he used to organise music gigs at school.
