Kwaito musician, Unity “Achuzi” Moyo is set to work with popular South African house music DJ Aero on his next album.
Moyo, who is now based in Johannesburg, told NewsDay he had teamed up with DJ Aero after the two met during a gig in that country.
Moyo was in the country for a New Year’s Eve show dubbed “Bohlingers Woza 2011” that featured a number of popular South African musicians that included Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa, Brown Dash and Winnie Khumalo.
Moyo however did not perform as he said the rain disturbed much of the show.
“I was there at Queens Sports Ground but I could not perform as we had to wait for the rain to subside.
“When it finally did, it was too late,” he said on Monday.
Moyo said DJ Aero, who has recorded a number of popular instrumental songs, would do the instrumentation for him.
“I will do the vocals while DJ Aero will do the beats,” he said.
Moyo shot to fame while still in Zimbabwe with kwaito group Achuzi.
The group, whose members are now based in South Africa, used to stage exciting live shows in Bulawayo.
Moyo said the song Mastanda (South African township lingo for landlord) is doing well in South Africa and has received a lot of airplay there.
It is taken off his latest album entitled Survivor.
“I gave my album that title as most people who got into music together with me have now left the industry and have ventured into different projects. I am still going strong hence I titled my album Survivor,” he said.
Moyo now owns a recording company in South Africa called Rooftop Studio.
He said he would also work with Oluhle Ncube of Pfugama Unamate fame.
“She (Ncube) is now based in the United Kingdom.
“I will send her my vocals via the Internet, she will add her own voice and send it back to me and then we will do the mastering in South Africa with the help of my producer, S’khobokhobo,” he said.
