Dillo Aces aim for Division One

-

Ambitious Warren Park based Dillo Aces are gunning for promotion to the Northern Region Division One league after gaining promotion from the Harare Province Division three in their debut season.

Dillo Aces, who are coached by the former Masvingo United and Motor Action defender Moses Williams, started off as a community social club before registering in the Division three league.

In the just ended season they finished top of the league after losing only three matches out of 28, finishing on 63 points, five points ahead of second placed Africa United on the 16-team log standings.

Aces use Warren Park Stadium, which is close to the high density suburb’s Community Hall as their home ground and will taking part in the Division Two league, which is two ranks behind the Premiership.

In an interview with NewsDay, club owner Joseph Mambondiyani said the club was surviving on contributions from well-wishers in the community but was now looking for a sponsor.

“At the moment I have been working closely with some individuals in the community to cover the costs of running the club but we hope to find a committed sponsor as we gun to gain promotion to the Premier League.

“We would also be interested in twinning the cub with other clubs in South Africa so that we develop talent and provide the players with opportunities to further their football careers,” said Mambondiyani.
