New singer-songwriter, Electah Kudzayi Vambe, aka Elle, recently launched a “single” titled Zuva.
Produced by Where-It’s-At Records, the album is on an afro-soul tip and tells the story of her day as she thinks about her maker.
The single, however, has two tracks – Zuva and Imimi —which are fused with poetry — and an instrumental.
The single comes with a complementary video that was shot by the Zimbabwe International Film Festival as part of their film workshop programme.
Elle’s voice comes out as marvelously effortless and smooth with lyrics that are bent on articulating everyday social issues that all combine to caress the listener’s ears.
“It was exciting and fun to both write and produce a single, and I’m raring to go forward and make it in the music industry. I’m now focusing on doing an album,” said Elle, who is also a guitarist.
Elle began her music career singing in the praise and worship team at Living Word Tabernacle church. She said she launched a single so that she could measure the response from music fans.
“I just wanted to see how people would respond to my music so that is why I first launched a single. From the response so far, it appears that people appreciate its uniqueness. It’s a song on a different tip,” said Elle.
Elle is currently working on a seven-track album which will consist of an eclectic mix of sounds, including afro-soul, soft rock, and afro-jazz.
