All roads will tonight lead to the long-awaited annual Unity Gala that will take place at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.
The gala, which will be free of charge, is a musical night meant to commemorate the Unity Accord signed between the leaders of former Zanu and PF Zapu on December 22 1987, which effectively dissolved Zapu and Zanu into a renamed Zanu PF.
The music extravaganza, which will be held throughout the night, will feature Zimbabwe’s top artists such as sungura giants Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo, Sulumani Chimbetu and Alick Macheso.
Other leading artists expected to perform at the all-night event are Fungisai Mashavave, Winky D, Kapfupi, Stunner, Leonard Mapfumo and the Mahendere Brothers, to mention but a few.
“We are ready to take Mutare by storm at the all-night music gala,”said the Mahendere Brothers’ lead vocalist, Amos Mahendere.
He said the group had a new approach and stage work and hoped their fans would have something to smile about during their performance.
Mahendere said that they would throw away their jackets into the crowds as a way of appreciating their fans.
“It’s Christmas time and we feel that we have to give our fans something special this festive season,” he said.
Mutare will receive an early Christmas from latest projects from many artists like Dhewa who will be expected to give a sterling performance from his latest offering Toita Basa.
Sandra Ndebele will also be part of the performers and Hosiah Chipanga will be returning to his hometown which propelled him to fame with his unique dance.
