Msasa-based Teamplayas Clothing Company recently introduced the country’s latest fashionable trend label called “Harare Originals”, an exciting collection of fashionable T-shirts, caps, sweaters, wallets and sun- glasses.
The collection, like popular internationally acclaimed trends such as Luis Vuitton, Gucci and Prada to mention a few, includes a series of clothing and accessories that bear the Harare Originals theme.
“It is a celebration of the sunshine city and its enterprising and vibrant people,” said Teamplayas chief designer, Gwinyai Chabvepi.
He said the collection featured various designs that would be released as limited edition collectables and the releases would be the introductory collections which would run up to the end of January 2011.
Chabvepi explained that the Harare originals logo which would appear as “HRE OG” would be maintained and serve as the collection’s headliner design.
“Teamplayas Clothing Company will continue to be the flagship label and everything will be designed, manufactured and distributed by the company,” said Chabvepi.
Chabvepi said he believed that HRE OG would make it to the top of the game as most people he had shown samples to could not believe it was a local design.
He said from a tender age he would always create designs thus he went to the Zimbabwe Institute of Digital Arts and studied Graphic Design and New Media to fulfil his lifetime dream.
In 2004, the 24-year-old designer entered the Faithwear designing competition and came second before passing a test to enter the prominent List of London International School of Fashion which he decided not to go to due other designing commitments.
