The Zimbabwe Under-20 soccer team Friday lost to Zambia in the Metropolitan Cosafa Under 20 Youth Championship at Molepolole Stadium, 47km outside Gaborone.
Zambia got the all important goal through Chwakwa Lungu who beat Young Warriors goalkeeper George Chigova with a header off the cross on the right by Patrick Sakala.
According to Cosafa website there were jubilant scenes after the match with the Zambians celebrating in front of their under fire FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya.
The Young Warriors must have rued the missed chances they created in the first half.
Zambia captain Simon Silwamba was named man-of-the-match.
Many people had dubbed the match an unofficial final.
The Young Warriors camp was on Wednesday was hit by a massive diarrhoea outbreak which almost threatened their participation in the last Group A soccer match against Swaziland.
They walloped Swaziland 3 – 1 despite the attack.
Denver Mukamba, Nqobizitha Masuku and Morris Kadzola were on target for the Young Warriors against Swaziland but they found the going tough against Zambia.
