The stage is set for the Miss Tourism Harare, Bulawayo and Marondera finals which have been scheduled for this weekend.
The finals will be held this Friday at Marondera Hotel, Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo and 7 Arts Theatre in Harare on Saturday.
The much-anticipated shows will see 25 beauties from Bulawayo, 20 from Harare and 15 from Marondera competing for the coveted crown to become the country’s top tourism ambassador.’
Winky D, Ex-q and Rokii will entertain revellers in Harare while Dudu Manhenga, Willis Wataffi and Harsh Touch will provide entertainment at the Miss Tourism Bulawayo final.
Stunner and Kapfupi, among other urban groovers, will perform at the Marondera final.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority public relations manager, Sugar Chagonda, said all was in place for the three provincial finals and that they were pleased with the support they had received for the previous regional finals.
“We are very happy with our progress so far and the quality of winners we are getting,” said Chagonda.
He added that next year’s finals of the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe contest were promising to be highly competitive and judges were likely to have a tough time in the selection of the person to replace reigning queen, Samantha Tshuma (above).
Samantha Dika was crowned Miss Tourism Harare with Chido Mashaya and Destiny Bobo being crowned first and second princess respectively.
Dika will this Saturday give her crown to the next Miss Tourism Harare.
The Bulawayo contestants will be vying for reigning queen Tshuma’s crown as she was crowned Miss Tourism Bulawayo and, subsequently, Miss Tourism Zimbabwe. Michelle Gonah and Talyssa Van Rooyen were crowned Miss Tourism Bulawayo 2010 first and second princess respectively.
Meanwhile, three regional finals have been held successfully in Manicaland, Mashonaland Central and Masvingo. In Manicaland, Blessing Ngohwe (20) was crowned queen while Phaleni Mupfurire (20) and Glodine Nhanhongo (19) were crowned first and second princesses.
Ayeta Banda (20) was crowned Mashonaland Central queen while Nokuthula De Souza (17) and Melisa Chikerema (19) were crowned first and second princesses. Samantha Dzowo (22) was crowned Masvingo Miss Tourism Masvingo queen while Mollyn Mazorodze (18) and Wendy Mandebvu (17) were crowned first and second princesses respectively.
The Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2011 final will be held on February 12 in Harare next year at a venue yet to be announced.
