Kiglon outshine Gunners

A brace by Edmore Chitato was enough to secure maximum points for Kiglon in a league match played at Rufaro yesterday, paving the team’s path towards survival in the Premiership.

The three points took Kiglon’s tally to 36, swapping positions with Eagles. Kiglon are now ninth while Eagles who lost to CAPS United 1-4 dropped to 10th position.

Chitato struck in the 13th and 55th minute, leaving his coach Lloyd Mutasa a satisfied man after the 1-0 midweek win over Dynamos.

“We have never lost to big teams, that is Highlanders, CAPS United, Dynamos or Gunners and I am happy about this performance.”

His counterpart Darlington Dodo applauded the performance by Kiglon; “The boys were focused that is why they managed to beat us. They managed to utilise the two scoring chances that came their way while we wasted a number of them.”

Chitato beat Tafadzwa Dube in goal for Gunners in the 13th minute after meeting a Martin Vengesayi cross.

Three minutes later midfield maestro Devon Chafa was at the end of a corner kick rebound and called Dube to duty after unleashing a ferocious shot which was parried over the bar.

Pakamisa wasted the best chance of the day when he collected a long pass from Dominic Benati on a counter attack. Instead of going for goal, he opted to release Vengesayi who was lurking from behind and the pass was badly timed allowing Norman Togara to recover.

Gunners’ chance to equalise came in the 44th minute when Cliff Sekete got the better of hard man Gift Bello but shot straight into the hands of goalkeeper Phillip Nhete.

Gunners capitalised on a goal mouth action in the 52nd minute but Norman Maroto’s goal was disallowed for an infringement on Nhete.

The second goal came in the 55th minute when Vengesayi, Chafa and Emmanuel Marvelous exchanged passes with Chitato heading home to make it 2-0.
