After performances in 800 shows in Singapore, one in Zambia and several others in Zimbabwe including the Brick and Lace show early this year where he was the man of the moment, Tendai Nguni better known as “Tehn Diamond” is set to make waves in the hip hop scenes.
According to Geri-leigh Diana, Nguni’s public relations officer Tehn Diamonds recently made a decision to rap and perform for a living after he moved back to Zimbabwe from Australia where he was a university student.
“At first his family were not too happy with him leaving university, but he soon showed them that he could make a career out of music, and after building a big following in Australia, his parents gave him their blessing,” said Diana.
She said his first release was called Student of the Game: Higher Learning, deep musings on life dreams, family, love and humanity which got fans suffering from vertigo at the abyss of his philosophical lyrical landscape.
Diana said after the first release it was in no time that Diamond blew raspberries at his fans in the form of his next release Student of the Game: Boys will be Boys which was launched in October and the momentum that had been gathering since then seemed unstoppable.
“Each song will have you pressing the repeat button and shaking your hips at the traffic lights,” she said.
She said that many of his tracks were musical revelations that he was watching through the rear view mirror waiting for everyone to catch up.
Diana said Diamond was so keen to be in touch with his fans that he had a blog that he constantly updated.
“It seems Harare is on the up and up, especially when the proof in the pudding includes ingredients like Tehn Diamond,” she said.
