Barring any last minute miracles, Northern Region Division One log leaders Blue Ribbon now have the championship medal which will guarantee them a place in the Premier League with two games to go.
The Misheck Chidzambwa-coached side were the biggest winners this weekend after a 4-0 drubbing of eighth-placed Quick Turn at Zimphos on Saturday and they now have 65 points while second placed Flame Lily have 63.
Regular scorer Tineyi Chitore bagged a memorable hattrick while Absalom Rupiya added a further goal that sank Quick Turn.
The victory ensured that Blue Ribbon remained with a chance of sealing the championship, only needing a draw against relegation-threatened Sporting Manhenga as they have a superior goal difference over title rivals Flame Lily.
Flame Lily have 63 points with one game to go and the mathematics read like this:
if Blue Ribbon loses their last match, they will remain in 65 and the only way they can miss out on the PSL title is if Flame Lily win their last match 10-0.
Blue Ribbon will be hoping to celebrate by getting a point this weekend which will make their tally unassailable.
Flame Lily however posted a 2-0 over fourth placed DSTV Rangers at Tomlinson Depot while third placed Township Rangers’ match with Highfield United did not take place after the latter did not turn up.
Rangers were granted the match on a 3-0 score line.
In other results Aces Youth Academy dismissed Simba Stars 2-1 at Dzivarasekwa Stadium but they are already relegated as they occupy 16th position on the 17-team log.
