Zim artist rocks US music scene

A US-based Zimbabwean artist, Davison Simango — also known as Davey Sim — is currently working on a new release, Dance With Me, with popular international artist Gudda Gudda from the group Young Money of the Cash Money recording label.

“Gudda Gudda and I will be releasing the new single, Dance With Me, which will be produced in January 2011,” said Simango.

The producer, singer, dancer and songwriter moved to England in his teenage years to pursue his musical career.

Simango is the owner and chief executive officer of the recording company, Daflo Records.

He found his way into the limelight after being discovered by London’s top music producers J Perry and Jud Mahoney of Dreamworks/ Jive Records, a US recording company on the social site, My Space, where he had posted some of his works.

“I was so honoured to be noticed by big producers like Mahoney who has vocally produced some of the world’s greatest talents including Mariah Carey, Brandy, Justin Timberlake, Usher and has written and produced with Babyface and Michael Jackson,” he said.

Simango said together with Mahoney they wrote an R’n’B song titled I’m Gonna Lay You Down, produced by Mahoney.

He said he was set for success in his musical career as his creativity spoke to the heart, hypnotised the mind and inspired the soul.

“I am planning on coming back to Zimbabwe during the Easter holidays next year and do a homecoming performance in my motherland,” said Simango.

He said his sources of inspiration were the award-winning internationally acclaimed producer Timbaland and the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
