Movie maker Munyaradzi Chidzonga’s film career is off to a flying start as the former Big Brother Africa star has been invited to the US, where he will rub shoulders with the glitterati of the world’s biggest movie industry in Hollywood.
He is currently in South Africa where he is meeting his Big Brother fans, discussing business and investment opportunities with business leaders.
Munya was supposed to travel to the US on Thursday, but the trip has been rescheduled owing to visa complications, something which the reality television star put down to destiny, saying: “Man make plans, but God has the final say, so maybe it was God’s plan that I get your (South African fans’) blessings in person,” Munya said.
The Lobola movie executive producer had been invited by top US actor and producer, Tyler Perry, to attend a conference with Hollywood celebrities but could not have a visa issued on time.
Though disappointed, the “Diamond Boy” was glad that this was just a delay, not a denial, and went on to thank the Millionaires’ Club and Tyler Perry for granting him this opportunity and for keeping the window of opportunity open until his visa application is sorted out.
Munya attended a business meeting on Tuesday with the directors of The Billionaires’ Club in Sandton who gave him the good news of an all-expenses-paid trip to the US. He was meant to visit Atlanta, Georgia, where he was scheduled to have a one-day conference tomorrow with Hollywood celebrities.
While there, he was billed to meet Perry, largely popular for his Madea movie series, among others.
Munya will use this platform to market Lobola, whose launch is pencilled for the end of this month.
This weekend, Munya will party on the other side of the border in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Zimbabwean artists like Knox and Maskiri are tipped to perform at the Johannesburg bash which other Zimbabwean celebrities will attend to show their support.
Munya is expected to proceed to Botswana next week were he has a line-up of activities, including a tour of Gaborone with fellow Big Brother All -Stars Botswana housemate, Kaone Ramontshonyana.
Meanwhile, Big Brother Africa All-Stars housemates are expected to come to Zimbabwe for Munya’s movie launch, with Kaone being the first to confirm his trip to Zimbabwe.
Things are looking up for Munya and since leaving the Big Brother house, he has been on a roller-coaster ride.
Firstly, he met with the President of Zimbabwe, was given $300 000, was made diamond ambassador, given a $20 000 diamond ring by an Indian company and also got a $10 000 contract from the Zimbabwe Entreneurship Youth Association.
