Esperance readies for Mazembe test


Tunisian giants Esperance have moved camping to Monastir, a city located in the southern part of Tunis to fine-tune their preparations for their Orange CAF Champions League final first leg clash with holders TP Mazembe.

The “Blood and Gold” began camping last Monday with 23 players for the first leg clash billed for Stade de la Kenya in Lubumbashi on Sunday.

Included in the squad for the preparations is midfielder Wajdi Bouazzi, who is recovering from an injury though paramedics have yet to give him the greenlight to feature in the final clash.

The clash will be the third time the two sides will be facing each other in the premier continental club championship this term after their blushes at the mini-league stage.

Mazembe beat Esperance 2-1 in Lubumbashi whilst the latter were 3-0 winners in the reverse fixture in Rades.Esperance are expected to leave for Lubumbashi on Friday, October 29, with their minds fixed on a convincing result.

The 1994 winners will host the second leg on Saturday, November 13, with the winners claiming the $1,5 million prize-money and the ticket to represent the continent at the FIFA Club World Cup slated for the United Arab Emirates in December.—Cafonline
