Black Leopards have officially appointed former Free State Stars and Zimbabwean national team soccer coach Sunday Chidzambwa as the head of the club’s technical team.
According to Kick-Off magazine, Chidzambwa’s return to South Africa has come as a big surprise after he announced that he wanted to take a short break from football after parting ways with Stars last month, with the Dynamos legend claiming it was due to family matters back home.
Lidoda Duvha general manager Fulufhelo Thidiela confirmed that the former Warriors coach has already relocated to Limpopo to begin his duties with the First Division side.
“Yes, I can confirm that after assessing a number of coaches, Chidzambwa has emerged as the best candidate to lead the team this season.
“He is now our coach after signing for three seasons and we are confident that he will help us gain promotion to the PSL (Premier Soccer League) next season.”
Thidiela also said Joel Masutha will remain assistant coach to Chidzambwa. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe youth international Archieford Gutu has finally been granted the green light to play for Harare giants Dynamos.
Gutu, who signed a two-year contract with the Harare giants last month from South African Premiership side Ajax Cape Town, had become a mere spectator at his new club as Zifa and the PSL took their time to process his papers.
Dynamos team manager Nyika Chifamba in an interview with NewsDay yesterday revealed that the “17-year-old” had received all the clearance papers from Zifa and a licence from the PSL and was now eligible to play for the Glamour Boys.
Gutu became clubless after his club Ajax Cape Town terminated his contract because he is still a “minor”.
