It was the busiest night ever since the inception of Harare’s popular weekend entertainment place, Q’bana, when revellers gathered at the open-air joint for the country’s Big Brother All Stars representative, Munyaradzi Chidzonga’s welcome back party Saturday night.
The attendance was overwhelming, with all parking areas occupied and other revellers had to park at other at the surrounding the premises in a demonstration of the fan base that Munya now commands.
Munya arrived driving a silver drop-top two-door Mercedes Benz.
He entered through the back entrance and headed straight for the VIP lounge to avoid hysteria by fans.
Upon arrival in the VIP lounge, there was a toast in his honour by close friends, family and Multichoice Zimbabwe officials, co-sponsors of Q’bana.
Those in the VIP lounge had an opportunity to have photo shoots with the celebrity.
Munya was then taken to the DJ box which was strategically located at the centre of the dance floor and branded by Jim Bream Bourbone Whisky.
There were crackling fireworks which took place simultaneously with a slide show of Munya’s stay in the BBA house, beamed on a rock which functioned as a screen.
Outside the main arena, there were long queues of people making their way to meet and celebrate with Munya, the “Diamond Boy” who made Zimbabwe proud after surviving nine consecutive evictions.
Men and women were dressed to kill in the latest designer wear, and as the night progressed, the hype increased.
The DJs kept on accelerating the party mood in the happy revellers.
“Munya made us proud, let’s celebrate with him,” said one fan, Calvin Chigariro.
The beautiful standing rocks on the Q’bana Open Air Space had a big picture of Munya’s face and other scenes from BBA projected on them.
The chosen few got an opportunity to mingle with the BBA star at close range in the VIP lounge as the rest of the people waited outside.
Munya later got the opportunity to go out to the fans who gave him a big welcome with screams.
“Thank you Zimbabwe for your great support and I’m sorry for not being able to see each one of you but I greatly appreciate,” said Munya.
