Young and versatile artiste and Shades of Black front man, Alexio Kawara, will at the end of this month have a DVD live recording to capture the live footage of his shows, particularly the interaction with his fans while on a stage.
The recording will be done at the 7 Arts Theatre in Harare on October 29 and the tickets into the show – which will be held under the auspices of Rooftop Promotions – will cost $10.
After realising that many of his past hit songs were no longer available on the market, the Shaina hit maker settled on this move to cover that gap.
“The live DVD recording is an innovative means of capturing on DVD and audio, my best songs, a few new ones as well as the various highly successful collaborations I have had with the likes of Andy Brown, Teererai Mugwadi and Clive ‘Mono’ Mukundu to name just a few,” said Kawara.
He added his decision was also a challenge in that he had to up his game to live up to his fans’ expectations.
Alexio, who played at the Blantyre Arts Festival between October 1 and 3, has however temporarily shelved his shows to polish up his act ahead of the show during which he will be backed by his band made up of Isa Chida, Fatima Katiji, Nelly Ndomu Masendeke, Cornelius Mponda, Roy Zuka, Eddington Matambira and Tawanda Ndoro.
The band is managed by Don Gwese. The promising artiste, who has so far recorded four albums, is gifted with multiple skills of composing songs, singing and performing at live shows.
Alexio cut his teeth during his stint with Guess, with whom he released his first smash hit, Amai.
In 2003 Alexio released his first album, Usazondisiya which had the epic song Ndinomhanya, which became an anthem on the airwaves and so was most of his songs which include Chibvugubvugu, Musikana Akanaka, Pfimbi Yangu and Tinodanana, which he did with Tererai.
