Amagents’ band members will release their latest single, Tribute to Dumi, at the memorial show whose proceeds will be chanelled to the family of the late jazz artiste Dumisani Ngulube at the Zimbabwe School of Music on Saturday afternoon.
David Mashumba, who was manager and best friend of the late jazz artiste, has confirmed that the show will go ahead on Saturday.
“We have organised such a show at a very early stage because we realised that Ngulube’s family, which includes his wife Lindiwe and two children Nothando (17) and Mandla (14) who are still in school, really need help,” said Mashumba.
He said the artistes who had agreed to take part in the benefit show include Victor Kunonga, the Mbare Trio, Pablo and Friends, Rute Mbangwa, Bob Nyabinde, Tendai and Selma Manatsa, Hope Masike and Dino Mudondo.
“I have already discussed this issue of hosting a benefit show with Dumi’s wife and she has approved of it,” said Mashumba.
He said that all proceeds would be of great assistance to the late Ngulube’s widow and children and no particular amount of money was targeted.
Mashumba said he was happy that most of the artistes he had approached concerning performing at the show had responded positively to the idea, knowing that Ngulube’s family needed support.
Ngulube died a month ago after suffering from a severe headache, leaving behind his wife Lindiwe and two children, Nothando and Mandla.
