At least 470 exhibitors have confirmed their participation at this year’s edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Africa Fair, which will be held between October 14 and 16.
The expo will run for three days as opposed to the traditional five days.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Executive Director Destinations Marketing, Tessa Chikaponya, said the organisation decided to shorten the time period in response to recommendations by the industry.
This year, the fair will run under the theme Green Tourism, Anchoring Economic Growth in line with United Nations’ theme, Tourism & Biodiversity.
“The message in the theme is that tourism growth should be sustained through various initiatives that the Ministries of Tourism & Hospitality and Environment have put in place to ensure that natural resources are conserved effectively and efficiently,” read part of the statement issued by ZTA.
The fair will be held at the Zimbabwe Exhibition Park (Zimbabwe Agricultural Showgrounds) in Harare. The organisers of the expo said they chose the spacious venue because it was ideal.
Tessa said preparations for the fair were complete and they were raring to go.
“We have finished preparing for the fair and most of the buyers and exhibitors have committed themselves to attending the show.
“30 international exhibitors have confirmed their participation through their embassies,” said Chikaponya.
She added that the high quality of participants and the interest shown by markets, makes this year’s event distinctive. To date 30 foreign exhibitors have signed up compared to 19 last year.
Over 320 buyers are expected to grace the fair compared to 234 that attended last year’s vent.
Last year a total of 497 exhibitors attended the fair.
