Yamurai Arts Productions will next month host a fundraising dinner to promote their latest film titled Sandawana .
The Dzivaresekwa Environment Conservation Trust (Dzect) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources will also partner with the group in raising funds to support the film during the event.
“Yamurai Arts Production is an initiative of Dzivaresekwa Environment Conservation Trust, used as an educational tool to the communities on environment management and conservation through theatre and drama,” said Dzect chief executive officer Reward Njenje.
He said the emphasis of the project was to lobby the global community, especially Africans, to revisit their cultural ideology of conserving the environment.
Njenje said the film would encourage people to protect their natural resources and revert to their cultural beliefs to regain their social identity.
“We are also advocating for a cultural all-stakeholders’ approach in the fight against the depletion of wildlife, environmental degradation, exploitation of natural resources and the deterioration of cultural values,” he said.
He said the fundraising show was one of a number of activities lined up to mobilise resources for the project.
“In Zimbabwe environmental challenges are serious thus it is our aim to help in fixing things,” said Njenje.
