Copac is set to take disciplinary action against Beauty Zhuwao, the wife of Zanu PF Manyame MP Patrick Zhuwao, who allegedly punched MDC-T MP Bednock Nyaude during a Copac administrative meeting in Kadoma early this month.
Nyaude has compiled a report detailing how he was verbally abused and physically assaulted by the MP’s wife outside the district administrator’s offices in Kadoma, after he denied her permission to take part in a discussion meant for Copac team leaders.
Zhuwao is a rapporteur with an outreach team led by Nyaude, Virginia Katyamaenza (Zanu PF) and Sinongile Mugijima (MDC-M).
Copac co-chairperson Douglas Mwonzora and staff at the Copac offices in Harare confirmed on Wednesday that Nyaude had submitted his report.
“We have received the report and we will be discussing it today before taking disciplinary action,” he said.
Copac co-chairpersons were meeting in Harare yesterday afternoon to discuss the matter.
Another Copac co-chairperson, Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana, however, said he had not seen the report although the committee had indeed asked Nyaude to submit it.
“What we heard were mere allegations, so we asked Honourable Nyaude to write a report. I have not seen the report and we cannot act on hearsay,” he said.
Mwonzora, however, insisted that the report had been written and that disciplinary action would be taken.
Zhuwao allegedly lost her temper after she was told she could not participate in a meeting meant to discuss a request by Zanu PF to replace a member who had not reported for duty.
The team leaders had told her that they could handle the matter on their own.
Zhuwao, however, did not like the way Nyaude and Mugijima had talked to her and she hurled obscenities at them before punching Nyaude in the chest.
She was restrained by police officers at the scene.
