Police hunt for cheeky rapist

Police have launched a manhunt for a rape suspect who entered his victim’s hut through the roof before putting on a condom and raping her.

Police spokesperson for Matabeleland North Inspector Trust Ndlovu confirmed the incident which occurred last weekend in Tsholotsho.

“The complainant was asleep in her hut with four children when she heard a sound emanating from the roof of the hut,” said Ndlovu.

“She then saw the suspect entering her hut through a gap between the roof and the wall.”

Ndlovu said the complainant screamed, but the suspect gagged her.

“He silenced her by threatening to kill her. The suspect then removed a condom from his trousers, put it on before raping the complainant once,” he said.

Ndlovu said the suspect escaped through the door .

The complainant then went to her mother-in-law’s homestead in the same area and reported the incident.

The matter was reported to the police.

Meanwhile, a 13-year-old orphan from Nkayi was allegedly raped by her uncle and an unknown person, sometime between August and September.

The orphan lives with her grandmother.

Ndlovu said in the first instance, the complainant was allegedly raped by her uncle while her grandmother was away.

“While the complainant’s grandmother was not there, the complainant’s uncle called her into his room and raped her once. The uncle then threatened to assault her if she reported the matter,” he said.

The police spokesperson said sometime last week, the complainant was again raped by another suspect while on her way to church.

“While the complainant was on her way to church, the suspect met her and proposed love to her.

When she refused, he grabbed and dragged her into the bush where he raped her once and then disappeared,” he said.

Ndlovu said the matter came to light after a teacher at the complainant’s school spoke to her.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
